Great Outback Queensland Pubs

Great Outback Pubs

Many city venues have tried to recreate the quirky character of Outback pubs, but the only way to truly experience this unique part of Australian life is to visit a real Great Outback Pub.

Outback Queensland Tourism have put together a collection of Great Outback Pubs that we reckon you shouldn’t miss when travelling through Queensland. If the walls of these historic pubs could talk, they’d have plenty of yarns to tell you, from stories of courage and survival, to anecdotes about colourful characters and the odd 'tall tale'.

Whether you drop in for a hearty meal and a cold drink, or stay a few nights in an historic hotel, visiting an Outback pub is sure to be a highlight of your travels.

Secret Fishing Spots

Fishing brochures

Everyone knows about the rough and rugged landscapes of Queensland’s Outback, but most people are surprised to hear about the stunning waterways and great fishing opportunities this region has to offer.

Queensland’s Outback plays host to a diverse range of fishing habitats from peaceful coolibah-lined billabongs to mighty rivers like the Thomson and the Barcoo, and from great lakes to the expansive waterways of the channel country flowing towards Lake Eyre.

Outback Queensland Tourism have produced a new brochure to show you some of the best spots to throw in a line. The brochure comes in a set of three that also covers Queensland’s Capricorn and Western Downs regions. All three brochures have lots of handy information for your next fishing trip, including tips for top catches, local fishing club contacts and competitions, and guidelines for fishing in Queensland’s inland waterways.
